The folks who run House By We sent us a gushing review of Peaches Market, the Southern-tinged restaurant that opened last Friday on the corner of Lewis and MacDonough: “The crowd was lively and the atmosphere cozy and welcoming. Food was fabulous: the warm black-eyed pea salad was scrumptious, clam strips were delectable and the blackened tilapia—fresh and light…and all very reasonably priced.” Yelpers are similarly smitten. Anyone else check it out? Peaches comes c/o the people behind Fort Greene’s Smoke Joint (which, coincidentally, is today’s Restaurant of the Day) and Little Piggy.

I’ve eaten at Peaches. I was very happy with the food and service. The prices were reasonable and food tasty. I wish them great success. I can’t wait til they start their Sunday Brunch.

I also saw renovation work going on in the corner space at Marcus Garvey & Fulton….anybody know whats going in there?
Dave, I know that grouping. Very unusual facade that almost looks like marble. I think there are about 3 in a row, right? When you’re looking for a house you remember these things. Too bad. I heard that a gourmet foods store was going to open on that corner. Great local.
I don’t know that part of the neighborhood very well. Are you a Level 5 Vegan? Won’t eat anything that “casts a shadow” LOL Can’t remeber the name of the movie where I heard that one.
