Streetlevel: Mirrors on Grand Actually Close to Opening?

The oddly-named Mirrors bar at 276 Grand Avenue in Clinton Hill has been about to open for a couple of years now. There have been enough head fakes during that time, so we should know better, but when we walked by this weekend, there was work going on and you could see liquor bottles lined up behind the bar. Any chatter in the neighborhood about this? GMAP
also…Choice is the ONLY business in FG/CH which routinely draws clientele from the “better” direction i.e. closer to BAM.
I think it’s ironic that Landmarks is giving Thierry (owner of Choice) such a hard time not 50 feet away from what has to be one of the ugliest buildings in New York, much ridiculed here on Brownstoner (Greene on the other side of Grand) which is just outside of the landmarked area. Further down the block there is much other godawful new construction going up.
But we are grateful for him, and for Choice anyway.
As for Mirrors…cheesy name, but the inside looked simple and warm the few times it has been open.
ugh, 4:21, you are such a drag. you sound like someone who got offended b/c someone didn’t wipe your nose for you. I live in CH and everyone I know loves Choice – even w/ the long waits – and is looking forward to the new market. don’t be such a drag. this is a really great neighborhood – the red bar on grand was a pioneer and they rock, choice is great. be happy we aren’t being bombarded by chain stores. the people who own these places, however imperfect, actually work there, know their community, etc.
back to mirrors, i passed by it a week ago and it had people at the bar, definitely looked open but maybe only to friends and family.
The fool opening the market tried to do the renovation without filing any permits. He got caught.
From what I hear he also received numerous violations from landmarks for the storefront.
In this day and age who thinks they can get a way with that?
You would have known about all this however Mr. Brown-noser believes in selective journalism – granted it is his website. When somebody on Dekalb builds a fence in violation of landmarks he is all over it. However, when one of his buddies does something even worse you don’t read a thing about it.
it used to have a sign that read “Mirror’s on Grand Coming Soon” and nobody knew if it was a bar or a mirror store.
so what happened to the market on greene ave? they were supposed to take over my old laundromat!
I believe Diety is only open thurs, fri, and sat..A friend told me they went in and it looked like they were trying to be LA clubby, but were playing Cat Stevens all nite..
Judging from the crowd exiting it late Sat. night, I think its already open.
3:42….yes deity!!!
did it ever open up??! i haven’t heard a thing!
thanks for the info.
