StreetLevel: Mee, New Thai for 5th Ave
Mee, a Thai restaurant on 5th Avenue between Lincoln and Sackett, opened for business last night. The menu is pretty typical, and the prices are pretty nice: Thai salad ($5.95), spring roll ($5.95), Pad Thai or curries with meat ($9.95). A little healthy competition for the drag’s other nearby Thai options, Long Tan and Song, might not be such a bad thing, no? GMAP
Seriously – after sushi – another Thai joint is the last cuisine choice this stretch of 5th needs.
How about *good* Indian, Ethiopian, Indonesian, Maylasian, *good* Mexican, Korean, Mongolian barbecue, Vietnamese, soul food, etc? Sheesh, throwing a dart at a spinning globe would have made for better market research.
Anyhoo, has anybody tried Lookout Hill yet? Is it any better than the dreadful and short-lived Biscuit?
No more bad mexican. Mexican food in New York is shamefully (and curiously) bad.
What people don’t seem to realize is that given the density of people in PS and nearby, plus people who travel into the area b/c it has become a restaurant row – duplication of cuisines is not really an issue. And that doesnt even take into consideration deliveries –
2:56 I agree!!!!
if you like mexican, go give the new la taq a try. it’s on 7th and berkeley…
it’s more upscale now with a really nice bar that serves over 100 tequilas.
Bring on more Mexican!
you can never ‘have’ enough mexican….
*rimshot
You all should do a story (with pics) on the newly renovated and lovely La Taqueria!!!
Also, you could combine it with Oshima right across the street, which did a great renovation with a GORGEOUS backyard patio with koi pond…
Definitely more than enough mexican.
