Streetlevel: Johnson Gourmet Deli
This may be old news since we hadn’t been down Johnson Street in a while, but it appears that there’s a new Gourmet Deli coming to the retail space in the Toy Factory Loft at 176 Johnson. Anyone know anything about it? GMAP

Check out the so-called deli across the street from this one and “Gourmet” fits right in. By comparison, this new deli is equal to calling itself “The Four Seasons” much less “Gourmet”.
By the way, have had sandwiches there and they are pretty good and they use Boar’s Head meats, not bad.
A guy on the street told me it’s being opened by the Johnson Deli across the street (the one precariously hanging into the vacant Oro II lot).
But then I asked the guy at the register inside and he said it’s not the same people. So, who knows.
every deli in this damn city has delicatessens in its name. How is having gourmet any different?
trying to take on that big johnson will make your mouth hurt.
Really good delis don’t advertise “Gourmet.”
