Although the early signage for this eatery said “Il Cuntuccio,” the spelling was corrected before opening day. According to Metromix, “The aptly named Il Cantuccio—’cozy corner’ in Italian… [has] no relation to the upscale West Village bakery of the same name (famous for their cantuccio cookies), this no-frills, counter service spot offers a handful of tables, and turns out Sicilian and classic New York style slices, and a range of Italian pastas and entrees.” As a grand opening special, they’re offering a large pie, garlic knots, a small salad, and a two-liter bottle of soda for $19.99.
