StreetLevel: Hookah Bar Takes Old Boutique Space on 7th
A hookah lounge and head shop opened a few weeks ago in the space on 7th Avenue between 14th and 15th streets that used to house the women’s boutique Lily. The sole Yelper who has tried the place out gives a mixed review. StreetLevel: Lily Closing Up Shop in the South Slope [Brownstoner] GMAP

There are lots of Hookah bars in Bay Ridge, many of them dimly lit. Some of them are starting to cave and are serving alcohol. Some have belly dancing on the weekends. A fun time indeed.
Oh man, that’s just two blocks from me. With all that neon on the window advertising hot chocolate and other treats, my daughter’s gonna think it looks cool and ask me what a head shop is.
DIBS;
With the word “head shop”, you’re probably right. I’ll stick to the VFW bar in Red Hook (where they have a terlet).
A hookah is also what the Caterpillar in the Alice in Wonderland movie was smoking… but I think he may have been dabbling in the opium rather than just ‘mixed fruit’ flavored tobacco.
Totally odd…I wish them well, but the place is brightly lit as a daycare center…and who the heck wants to be “relaxing” with a hookah staring out a plate glass window onto 7th Ave?
benson, trust me, it’s not for you.
Benson, here’s a picture of a hookah.

Benson, Hookah or shisha is a waterpipe that is used for smoking tobacco, some are flavored.
I think it originated in India but is more commonly associated with the Middle East.
Hookah Lounge – You order a pipe with whatever flavored tobacco you want and ‘smoke it’, it’s shared and the hookah ‘hose’ (not sure what it’s called) is passed around.
Oh Good heavens
I seriously hope the horrible neon scribble won’t be there permanently on their front window
