Streetlevel: Greenmarket for Ungentrified Stretch of Fulton

A stretch of Fulton Street whose mix of offerings has failed to evolve with the neighborhood around it is getting its first taste of gentrification in the form of, what else, an organic market. The storefront at 969 Fulton Street between Washington Avenue and St. James Place in Clinton Hill, until recently a generic looking real estate office, is in the process of transforming into something called the Green Planet. From the awning, this place has the feel of one of those early-90’s health food stores as opposed to something with particularly great food, but, regardless, it’s nice to see something other than bodegas and nail salons along here. How do you think it’ll do? GMAP
there is a fish and crustaceans place on Fulton between Clinton and Vanderbilt – seems to be more of take out spot than a raw fish place.
there was a fishmonger on that stretch–well actual closer to clinton in the 70s. it was mobbed on fridays by muslims and the blacks who love them. bean pie anyone?
I’m really excited about this too! I would venture to say they’re not exactly pioneers on Fulton, considering Olivino wine shop, Embora yoga studio, and Au Tour Du Monde fancy restaurant are all open over there, but it’s a great addition.
Anyone know what’s coming to the “Clinton on Fulton” condo space near the “post office”?
This is definitely a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Someone has to take the first step in this neighborhood!
Welcome!

Thanks for the troll-like comment, 4:08. Do you speak Klingon as well?
And how will you know the money won’t go to “the middle east” (Ohio?). Businesspeople of all ethnicities can be responsive to consumer needs.
Why am I even bothering?
Has anyone been to the new place on the corner of Fulton and Grand? And Outpost seems to be doing better and better.
Great — at least I’ll know that all of the money I spent in the store won’t be going to the middle east.
I am So excited! We have been supporting all of the great new businesses along fulton around Clinton and Washington- Olivino, Cure (more of a spa than a nail salon). We will be sure to give them our support.
More importantly, the people in the neighborhood deserve a better selection of grocers.
Agreed…this is sorely needed.
