This morning the Brooklyn Eagle confirmed long-held rumors about the big new tenant at the former D’Agostino’s on 7th Avenue and 6th Street in the Slope: It’s another bank. The unidentified bank (Gowanus Lounge sources believe it’s going to be a Bank of America) will share the 4,500-square-foot space with a smaller, TBD tenant, according to landlord Larry Wittlin. “I wouldn’t want another, simply one of those corner everything-type stores, says Wittlin. I want something more upscale. Something that would fit in here or in Brooklyn Heights or in the city.”

Uh, there’s Tea Lounge two blocks away.
How about a COFFEE SHOP!
I need a Commerce Bank to turn my coins into folding money. Spare change? Anybody?
How often does anyone need to actually step in a bank these days? Haven’t you heard of direct deposit and ATMs? What a waste of space in a stretch of 7th that already has nothing decent to offer.
Well if that’s true, my walk to the bank got MUCH shorter!
Count me as the minority happy poster!
Is there even a full service Bank of America anywhere in Park Slope?
Can’t think of one? Just those ATM only places.
its a bank of america I saw the plans the other day in front of the windows with their logo
Sounds like such a cozy and reality-free planet that BrooklynCouch inhabits.
Gourmet Garage or Garden of Eatin’ WHERE ARE YOU??????
The info on GL doesn’t sounds quite right. It says a bank (Bank of America) is going into the former D’Ag space and that the Gothic Cabinet space was still looking for a tenant. Judging from the plywood up, it looks like the exact opposite to me.
Just so you all know…Park Slope is actually NOT saturated with banks. ONE Commerce on 5th, One Chase on 5th and one on 7th, two Bank of America ATM only’s on 7th…one at Union and one at 12th street and an Astoria Federal on each 5th and 7th.
For a very long neighborhood which spans a couple miles from end to end, this is NOT a lot of banks.
I have to walk 20 mins from my house to my Commerce. I’d WELCOME another nearer to Flatbush/7th.
Don’t cry wolf.
Other neighborhoods have such worse bank and duane reade problems than we do.
