Streetlevel: A New Wine Shop on 5th

So says a sign pasted in their window, announcing that Picada Y Vino is coming soon. (We assume picada refers to a kind of Argentinian antipasto, not the nutty sauce for chicken). Not much about it on the Web, other than one obscure reference to its opening in August. Anybody heard more?
friend brought over a bottle of wine from this place last night. It was Uruguaian (sp?). I believe it is the same wine that’s on the Blue Ribbon wines by the glass list. Interesting blend of guwurzstrameiner (sp?), chenin blanc, sauvignon and maybe viognier?
Totally delicious and unique.
stopped in here yesterday, and had a pleasant experience. They recommended a terrific bottle of Cabernet and were very friendly and open to suggestions. Not a ton of selection, but seemed highly curated for various price points. I usually go to the Prospect Wine Shop, but I’d be happy to shop here, too.
whats a shill?
anon552 – I am not a buisness owner but have a place walking distance from this place.
does it not sound like some of the above individuals are shills? 11217, troll, etc. are you business owners on the block?
I’d also love to see a full-on liquor store (without bullet-proof plexiglass) on that stretch of 5th Ave.
Thanks to jack123 for the info on the opening! I can’t wait to try the wine bar given how great their wine store is!!
P, RW&B is a great wineshop, probably the best in PS, but it’s a ways down from 5th Street. Even farther from 9th Street, for example. I think a small wineshop there will do well.
Today is their first day open – until 8pm tonight and every week night, until 9pm on Friday and Saturday. First tasting is this Saturday from 2pm – 5pm.
Say hello to Melissa and Leigh when you stop in!
