A tipster reports that the space Living on 5th used to occupy &#8212 5th Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets &#8212 will become a wine shop. So says a sign pasted in their window, announcing that Picada Y Vino is coming soon. (We assume picada refers to a kind of Argentinian antipasto, not the nutty sauce for chicken). Not much about it on the Web, other than one obscure reference to its opening in August. Anybody heard more?

  1. friend brought over a bottle of wine from this place last night. It was Uruguaian (sp?). I believe it is the same wine that’s on the Blue Ribbon wines by the glass list. Interesting blend of guwurzstrameiner (sp?), chenin blanc, sauvignon and maybe viognier?

    Totally delicious and unique.

  2. stopped in here yesterday, and had a pleasant experience. They recommended a terrific bottle of Cabernet and were very friendly and open to suggestions. Not a ton of selection, but seemed highly curated for various price points. I usually go to the Prospect Wine Shop, but I’d be happy to shop here, too.

  3. Today is their first day open – until 8pm tonight and every week night, until 9pm on Friday and Saturday. First tasting is this Saturday from 2pm – 5pm.

Say hello to Melissa and Leigh when you stop in!
