StreetLevel: 3rd Ave Music Store Calls it Quits
Mazzotti Music, the guitar shop on 3rd Avenue between Carroll and President, closed a few days ago. It had been in business for five years. One of the people who worked there said they just weren’t making enough money. GMAP

it’s okay…i fell asleep half way through…sure it’s interesting tho
Only five years – wow, that sucks. An indie music shop is always a nexus. There were two in my hometown growing up, one cheeseball, the other run by hungover ex-session players. I loved going there.
synth pop is killing Brooklyn.
I am sure it is the fault of the evil greedy landlords and the spoiled sel-entitled yuppies who are all moving in and who dont have their kids play music anymore…..
P.S. that comment was supposed to come across as more sarcastic/funny than it is mean. 🙂
Ft. Greenepark,
Would you have liked Mr. B to have gone and bought you a guitar, wrapped it and sent it to your house as well?
He can’t know about every store about to close. This is a blog.
If you want to keep abreast of stores on the verge of going out of business, I’m sure he’d love for you to take the lead but I’m really curious how you think Mr. B would be aware of a small music shop having trouble in the Gowanus unless the owners emailed him and asked him to highlight it.
Do people want Mr. B to start wiping their asses for them too?
Too bad… I always like those music shops. I don’t play but those guitars are nice to look at.
fgp, there’s a similar joint by me in WT, 10th Ave & 18th or so.
hm brownstoner…guess if you’d told us about them BEFORE they closed…you might not have to run this piece.
HEY SOMEBODY DO A PIECE ABOUT NON-GUITARCENTER MUSIC SHOPS IN BK DAMN IT! There’s like ZERO…suuuuuuuuucks. exxxspecially around my nabe
BOMBACLOT!
The darn phonograph did them in.
Now everyone listens to the phonograph instead of making music for themselves.
