The quality of life meter is about to take a huge tick upwards in one corner of Bed Stuy. Within the next month, a new cafe serving coffee, pastries, sandwiches, etc. will be opening at the corner of Clifton Place and Nostrand Avenue. Owner Lisa Bayer, who’s lived down the block for the past two years, hopes the shop, which she’s calling Tiny Cup, will be a lot more than a place to eat. She’s outfitting the cafe with a bunch of comfy couches and wifi access in the hopes that it’ll become a neighborhood gathering spot. Bayer’s shooting to open Tiny Cup’s doors by July 4 weekend. 1. Reno – i know what you mean about the slim pickings in eastern bed sty. good luck trying to find a good salad, or even fruit around here. i’m talking along broadway between halsey st. and broadway junction. this area needs help!

  2. That’s nice. But BedStuy is a BIG place, and over here in the Victorian village of Eastern BedStuy, (east of, say, Stuyvesant Avenue, there isn’t a latte or a NYTimes to be had for blocks around. Here’s hoping that some tasty, well read retail discovers those of us doing that “Saratoga Park thang” soon!

  3. best of luck! i will be there to support and show some love. we need more folks like you to help spur the continued rebirth of bed stuy. we all can benefit from a diversity of shops and business … you go girl!
