green-baltic-0110.jpgIt ain’t easy being green. When we last heard from the Green Giant of Baltic Street back in September, the newly constructed commercial space was still sitting empty. Yesterday Lost City checked in with the wallflower and, sure enough, it’s still available. The blog takes issue with some of the marketing verbiage though. Rather than calling it “the most architecturally alluring storefront in Cobble Hill,” as the listing from Vespa Reality does, the blog suggests a rewrite: “I’ll give them this: It’s the most architecturally singular storefront in the neighborhood.” The blog also offers up a couple of more reasons why the space hasn’t found a taker yet: “It must be a bitch to heat in the winter and probably becomes a sauna in the summer. Not to mention the window-washing bills.”

  1. Thre is a very, very obvious cure for this whole thing. Ready? Stand back.

11217, it is time for you to show up to a get-together. I told you once before, the in-person meetups reset everything and add perspective which makes us all enjoy each other more, and understand each other more. You have said you are often in Brooklyn Heights; we are getting together on Jan. 21st at Last Exit.

  2. CGar,

You know as well as I do that I’ve tried to ignore Rob but he likes to pick apart my posts more than any other it seems. I know he’s gone into the OT to say that he hates me more than any other online person out there. I’d GLADLY ignore him and have tried, but then we get the long blond wig comments and the shit starts flyin’.

I’m happy to talk about BA with you. But you might want to talk to someone else because you know I’m not very interesting just because I travel. 🙂

  3. oh no you DID’T just bring up my dog!! dont make me go all bananas on you like bad mommas do when you bring up what you THINK are their neglected children!! my dog is well taken care of and just cuz i dont bring him to the park everyday doesnt mean anything! how do YOU know that MY dog doesnt dislike parks as well? hmmm? you dont! he’s a concrete dog for the most part anyway.

besides mr. know it all the dog walker brings him to see trees and whatever else during the day when im at work.

    *rob*

  4. Well, 11217, that settles it, come in off of the runway, take off the wig (joke) and introduce yourself on January 21.

“I guess being open minded doesn’t apply to yuppies though (which is like half the city)”

I agree with that. That’s the whole thing. It’s people pretending to be open-minded but at the same time shocked by anything that doesn’t fit a certain mold. Like yesterday, why were so many so shocked to agree with George Will on one singular point?

Sorry for making you the example, it’s just because until I know you, you’re more a character than a person.

  5. Awnings can be kind of cool looking! Lots of places use them!

I just don’t see the solar thing happening, and I don’t think that ANY air conditioning system is going to be strong enough to cool that place with such a large southern exposure. My opinion is that you are going to have to block the sun, and awnings would be the greenest and most affordable way to go.

And they might be retractable so that on days where the sun isn’t an issue, they can be closed.
