Longtime Flea vendor Crop to Cup is stepping it up with a new cooperative-style retail store at 139 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights. The importer of coffee from farmers in East Africa will share the vintage-vibed ground-floor location with flower tea, light food fare, artwork, antiques, and furniture for sale; items from other Flea faves like Nunu Chocolates, McClure’s Pickles, Early Bird Granola and Kumquat Cupcakery (freshly baked in-house!) will also be available. The space is expected to open within the next few days. In keeping with the retro feel, the store will be accepting donations of old cassette tapes to play on the hi fi. Update: Grub Street has some more details on the shop’s offerings. GMAP
I popped in there the other weekend while out strolling the baby – met the owner. Super nice guy! He wasn’t open yet, but offered up a sample espresso – tasty with a nice berry taste at the end. Cool space, good local vibe, interesting furnishings, etc. Will be nice to pop in for an espresso before braving Sahadis.
What Kens said. ^^^
Tried their coffee at the FLEA. It was pretty damn good.
thank god this storefront is finally cleaned up and occupied with a legit tenant(s). good luck!!
Montague is double or triple. This area of atlantic pretty cheap.
And now i have something to do with my cassettes, totally bringing them some….
The interior looks really pretty. I’m pretty sure we have some old cassette tapes lying around! I’ll round them up and stop by.
How much higher is the rent on Montague than Atlantic Ave? Seems all the more interesting stuff has been opening up on Atlantic. Would be nice if it was spread out a bit more in the nabe.
