Back in June, while the place was plywooded-up, we wrote that a real estate broker was coming to the storefront at 244 Hoyt Street, at Douglass, in Boerum Hill. Now we know which one: The plywood has been removed to reveal quite a snappy looking office for the rapidly-growing Rapid Realty. Perhaps this will open the doors to other new tenants along this stretch of Hoyt which, while near a lot of high end houses and stores, faces the retail challenge of being across the street from the Gowanus Houses. 1. @11217 lololol….True they are very shady and very car salesmanish…the agents are not trained they have no clue what they are doing, I think opening another office is DUMB! Why would you open more offices? Most agents are virtual agents, they dont need desks any more cuz everything they do is on their black berry or IPhones, waste of rent! Here’s a tip RAPID, close a few offices and invest that rent into some training for your agents and building your brand…opening offices aint the way to do it guys…its 2011 in a few weeks not 1990…

  2. i said 2nd largest, if they realize their plans

while NYGuy7 is somewhat right, given housing project, 1 1/2 blocks to canal, this feels boerum hill and ain’t carroll gardens….. those boundaries are nonsense anyway

  3. They are SOOOOOO shady.

Stay away from Rapid, have had a couple people I know use them and were terribly disappointed. Their brokers are like used cars salesman. Even more than other firms.

  4. Rapids Structure is miserable…Lots of agents running from Rapid to other companies, Ive noticed. Seems they over promise and under deliver and focus mainly on rentals. Cant see how theyll be the largest independent by 2012…

  5. Oh you dirty hipster. People can’t win. They put in a new storefront, and it’s not contextual or ugly. They go with the trend of making it look contextual and a bit classier, and it’s just like every other store. This is why I hate hipsters. God, my parents paid my rent this year, and they like expect me to call them once in awhile. What’s with all of the strings? God, I hate how all of these boutiques and coffee shops are popping up, I preferred my little bodega that I walked by every day with my whole foods bags and never shopped at because it was in reality too crappy.

  6. The facade on this place really does a great job at bringing some aesthetic presence to the block. The place was most recently a shell of a long-since defunct grocery store, but now, it makes this part of the neighborhood feel like a bit of a destination.

As far as it being a Rapid Realty office goes, I’ve actually dealt with them, and I’ve found them to be an awesome company to work with. And when they were just finishing up the buildout on this spot, I talked to one of the Brokers there, Laura, and she was quite nice, and really knowledgeable.

Maybe some good will come of this?
