Rapid Realty Expands to Hoyt Street

Now we know which one: The plywood has been removed to reveal quite a snappy looking office for the rapidly-growing Rapid Realty. Perhaps this will open the doors to other new tenants along this stretch of Hoyt which, while near a lot of high end houses and stores, faces the retail challenge of being across the street from the Gowanus Houses. Did the old school realty rental agency on Smith near Sackett or so close down? Run by Mike. That place was awesome, they knew every landlord in the area. Very honest and decent people. Best agency I have ever dealt with.
I see, another real estate agency in the area…
As a landlord who has gotten their listings calls my experience is that they know less than nothing. Here are some choice quotes:
1. “How much is the least you are willing to take?”
2. “We’re the no fee broker. We take 1st, last and security and give you 1st and security!”
4. But the crowning achievement was an agent who was found hanging out in a tenant’s apartment (not one of mine) waiting for an appointment that was _an_hour_away,
Tenant: What the hell are you doing in my apartment?
Agent: “I thought you were away…”
To any of you Rapid agents I’ve spoken to, I’m the guy that very pleasantly recommended you go work for a different company. Still good advice.
@ Pete-How do you know I havent? I didnt just make all of that up off the top of my head…
@BKREVET-im with ya man, im just saying why do you need so many offices? Wouldnt it be smarter to open maybe 1-3 large offices with a high volume of agents, Im talking cost wise. Then to have 5-10 small offices in premium locations paying rent, paying other expnses IE; Phone, AA, electric + advertising…not saying one way is right or wrong…to me just makes more sense.
“2nd largest independent after Fillmore by 2012”
i just wrote this on a piece of paper and showed it to someone: “I will be the second richest american citizen by 2014”.
Damn, i’m hot! Believe the hype. Would I lie?
I think they deal with sleazy and unscrupulous landlords, at least that was my experience when I dealt with Rapid when I first moved to Park Slope. The landlord I’m thinking of owns several homes in the South Slope and that burger joint in PS. Would never refer anyone there.
itsthebigguy, actually one has to have an office to supervise, train and focus agents
also key advertising and planting a flag
individuals work well virtual, but the group office r.e. model still works, and is the best way to focus your staff weird, but true
Store looks nice. bout time someone did something over there. Would have preferred a retail shop or restaurant, but at least they did the right thing. Picture doesn’t do it justice though, I walked by there while they were open and the gates were up, looks really nice. We’ll see if it translates into more businesses moving into that strip.
…not as if Fillmore isn’t a bunch of sleazies either!
