storefront
Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights has tons of potential in our opinion. It already has a fun vibe and eclectic mix of businesses and we suspect more bars and restaurants will continue to be drawn to the strip. This storefront at 595 Vanderbilt is a big question mark. Does anyone know what this will be? GMAP

  1. This is the same owner as Brooklyn Sub on Washington and Bergen, who also owns the liquor store on the corner there. Apparently, owning a liquor store is like printing money in Prospect Heights. The now closed Hibiscus Cafe storefront is going to be an “upscale” hair salon, same owners as Fashion Cafe on Flatbush. A Korean and also a Mexican restaurant are both coming to Vanderbilt in the next 2 – 3 months, renovation is going on now. I can tell you there are tons of current restaurant owners looking every week for a location on Vanderbilt, we’re growing really fast, and I love it.

The medians are painted on, and are already in place. They have slowed the traffic considerably, since they force cars into one lane. It’s a parking lot at times, though, there are already just way too many cars coming through.

  2. Joyce bakeshop (Vanderbilt and Park Place) is slated to open in late June. I, too, heard that the above photo is going to be a wine/liquor store.

Vanderbilt needs more bars and restaurants. It’s improving, but not enough for my tastes.
