As spring inches ever closer, the days of fun outside in Prospect Park also draw closer to reality. This is a special year for the park, it’s celebrating its 150th anniversary, and the Prospect Park Alliance is organizing events to mark the occasion.
Starting Friday March 31 and running through Sunday April 2, the Prospect Park Alliance will host a weekend full of special activities to kick-off the anniversary year.
The celebration starts on Friday night with Lola Star’s Ice Disco at the LeFrak Center for those 21 and over from 7 to 10 p.m. The majority of the events will begin Saturday, with the first Coffee Bark event of the year from 7 to 9 a.m., where Brooklyn pups and their owners can enjoy treats for dogs and humans alike at the park’s Long Meadow.
Also on Saturday is the anniversary parade, beginning at 10 a.m. at Long Meadow Ball Field 1. After the parade enjoy the season opening game of the Brooklyn Atlantics, who play baseball by the 1860s rules of the game. There will also be a family friendly fair at the Bartel-Pritchard Entrance of the park.
The weekend will be full of events and fun for the entire family. To check out the complete roster of events or to RSVP to those that catch your eye, click here.
