I’ve thought about this brick washing or whatever it is since this was first posted. Keep meaning to ask someone who’d know what you’d have to use to “wash” off paint like that.
Maybe they’re just spraying on brick-colored paint. Just kidding. But I do have an affection for bricks that are painted brick color.
The building that my studio is in at The Navy Yard just had it’s exterior cleaned? sandblasted? Whatever they did, every single surface in my studio was covered with a layer of brick-colored dust because they neglected to properly cover the falling apart windows. Could not even go in there for almost three weeks. So, I’ve had bricks and brick-related things on my mind for a while.
Ugh, don’t remind me. I’d already written a check for first and last when the occupants decided they didn’t want to move after all.
Smudge, I know the guy who rents that apartment. It’s truly amazing. 30 ft ceilings in the main loft living area, separate office, den type space halfway up a spiral staircase that leads to the bedroom, which leads to a huge private terrace…
I looked at that top floor apartment with the semi-turret once when it was briefly (but, as it turned out, not actually) for rent. It’s pretty awesome.

I walk by this building every day and ehe work on this project has been stop and go. I’m guessing the project is harder than the owner expected. That said, the building will look great when the job is complete.
