Your kid is going to be just fine ET. More than fine. I’ve been fighting this fight with my wife for years. She seems to think our kids will sprout extra heads if they don’t watch TV. This is one of the few areas where I have laid down the law and won’t budge.
Question: If I load a bunch of porn onto my ipod touch and then watch it while I’m commuting to work, and only adults can see the screen, does anyone thing I’m breaking the law?
I’m proud to say I don’t watch TV. I get NO reception. If there’s something we want to see we watch it online.
My Bro-n-Law keeps lecturing me about not having TV and how can I raise a child without it. That my kid is going to be missing out, he’s not going to learn anything, etc. He’s even offered to get us a new TV (we have a 12-year old TV we watch movies on).
I think my kid will be just fine.
“All TV is awful. It’s like a gigantic stupid contest where everyone’s a winner.”
Everything isn’t all or none. I watched a very interesting documentary two nights ago on The History Channel about the fall of The Third Reich. It’s possible to learn and be moved by certain programs.
I watched an episode of family guy and a few minutes of Juno when I was in Kansas City and thought maybe I was falling off of my TV-hatin’ wagon. Nope. My brain was just forcing me to feed it television in some kind of lame suicide attemp.
Benson, I am going to think about your question.

The Good Wife is extremely well written and acted. It’s one of my two or three must watch shows. Fringe is another.
Loving Downton Abbey on Masterpiece Theater.
Clarence Thomas is beyond comment. If you look up “bench warmer” in the dictionary, his picture is there.
“Everything isn’t all or none.”
You are absolutely 100% wrong.

Basically, I agree.
