Although the 77th Precinct maintains a map detailing the locations of recent crimes, no such visual rendering is available online. Some folks on Brooklynian’s Prospect Heights message board are trying to change that. They’ve set up a map that allows anyone to report muggings or other violent incidents in the neighborhood, and they’ve also added data from published crime reports. Seems like a great community resource, though you have to wonder how many inaccurate or overblown reports are going to find their way into the mix. Nevertheless, neat stuff.

So crime in your neighborhood is the result of drunken behavior and reported by crazy people, but other crime stats that are quoted on this site are perfectly reliable. The double standard is so obvious.
i had a horrible time living in prospect heights. considered it very dangerous. my old BF and i were constantly harassed, and we never felt safe. could not wait to move!
um….denton…these are not OFFICIAL…these are written in by people…a lot of which are the same crazies that post on this blog.
Hah, having lived on 4th Ave for ten years, it’s great to note it is the safest of the avenues. All those old money white folks who have to live around other old money white folks up on 8th Avenue, who think that 4th Ave is unsafe cuz there’s a few Hispanics hanging out on the stoops drinking beers, too bad. Jane Jacobs was right!
So many of them are also mid-day or between 5-8PM.
I thought Ft. Greene had the leprechans!

Also, there are WAY more unicorns in Ft. Greene than there are in Park Slope.

Really? How surprising! According to some posters here, you can only be threatened by crime in Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights. No one is ever the victim of a crime in any other part of the city.
Funny, they’ve failed to mark which muggings occured when the victim stumbles blind drunk off the Q train at 3 a.m.
