park-avenue-washington-avenueTonight the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership will present another factor of the Park Avenue Safety Plan to Community Board Two. The proposals, which cover Washington Avenue between Park and Flushing Avenues and Park Avenue from Washington Avenue to Steuben Street, will close the “crossover” near Grand Avenue, improve pedestrian crossings, and will secure additional capital money to help implement the recommended improvements. Closing off the crossover at Grand will open up a large area under the BQE (near the easternmost end) which could be used for community programming. There is no concrete plan yet for what may happen with the space. If the DOT decides to take on the project they will start a planning process with the community before making any changes. If you’re interested in hearing the full proposal, the meeting is 5pm tonight at the Zeckendorf Health Sciences Center, Long Island University.
