m4l- go to the Schermerhorn thread for a good time 🙂
Biff- somethings got to give. Unless you have a window and you get a piano mover to hoist it up (which of course depends on a window in t he kitchen that’s accessible. And the window is big enough. How did you manage to get into this situation?
I’d be truly terrified of the delivery guys lifting the refrigerator up and over through that pass through.
“And you guys realize the Outpost has no beer on tap? Or did I not see it?”
Heather, I didn’t realize. We still have lots of time to switch venue, if need be. I’ll talk to wasder more about the Outpost and let everyone know. I prefer a place with a good draft beer selection.
DIBS, truthfully the better half is doing all of the research and measurements (I told you already about my fear of tape measures). She’s done a lot of research and is certain the old and/or new one won’t fit through the door sideways.
Biff…unless you’re dealing with some mom & pop outfit, there’s no way there’s going to be communication from the salesman to the delivery guys that this refrigerator will need to be lifted through a passage. It’ll be a clusterf*&ck when the non-English speaking delivery guys get there!!!!
Biff, sounds like it’s going to be a disassembly job unless you are going to be putting something of a similar size in to replace it, in which case you may be better off making the opening bigger.
There is talk of things being too big for openings. Where is BRG with a dirty re-write when you need her? Yoooohoooo! BRG! An opportunity awaits you!!!
DH, you definitely up to bat.
I’ll let the other gentlemen take their swings first. I prefer batting cleanup.
I’d take the door casings off or opt for a higher end refrigerator that isn’t as deep as a standard.
But how are you getting the old one out???

Biff…most fridges are the same depth…it won’t fit in sideways??
Then there are the sub zeros and others that are only 24-26″ deep.
