I’ve gotta get out of here, because the cat talk is soming. Yikes!!!
Let me just say that I have no rancor towards Mr. B. I just think that he did not show the proper respect towards his patrons and his apology was a non-apology. My main feeling is that it is just weird for a business person to act this way.
He simply could have asked: “Does anyone have any ideas for improving the quality of this site”? or “Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make this site more inviting to new comers?”, instead of using the opportunity to disparge the regular posters multiple times.
I am not leaving the site, mainly because I’ve come to like the on-line community we’ve developed here. As Biff said, however, some of the wind is out of my sails right now because of what happened. Let’s see what happens.
Geez – I go back to work these past 2 hours and find another 100 posts
agreed on Cafeteria – totally overhyped
am trying to think of some places around there that I love
I understand what you’re saying ditto. But on the other side- Jon’s a businessman. It’s his place to worry that new posters may be put off.
And to be really fair, Jon has put up with a lot of abuse and insults from us. He’s been accused of being a racist, a snob and much worse, threatened and insulted often. I have yet to ever see an apology to him. He posts things provocatively to get a conversation going, and those threads get the most posts so on some level we must enjoy them, don’t you think?
I know him and I have a lot of respect for him and for the way he handles most of it. I was away but did glance at the commenters thread- but my feeling is the level of anger seems awfully high for what it was. And I miss your posts, and bensons and hope you both keep coming back. (Besides- I still need my book recommendations from you 🙂
Biff, ever the humorist!
Since benson and I are in the same boat with the drooping sails, can someone please pass some wind?
don’t go benson! You’ll be taking 33% of the Republicans with you and you did promise to never give up the fight! 🙂
Bxgrl and all;

I’ve been posting online since 1993 and was not offended by Mr. B’s comment. I didn’t even think it was that strongly worded.
