Snark, that is one of the things I do, when I don’t have my Lois Lane hat on. I’m not a reupholsterer, but I can recover cushions, plus make throw pillows, etc.
Please email me at montrosemorrisATyahooDOTcom.
Good luck Snappy!
Thanks for all the well wishes, NOP, Mopar, C’hiller!
Rob! You can find used remnants of fabrics cheap online like on eBay. It’s probably easiest if you search for fancy upholster fabric names you know, like Ralph Lauren, and then see what else they’ve got in their shop.
I’m going to take a chair down the street to an upholsterer on Wyckoff near Mytrle. Everything in my area is so inexpensive, I’m sure this is too. Like prob $50 to cover a seat and $300 for an upholstered chair (this is a guess).
A colleague of mine found a place in Bay Ridge or someplace that was super cheap and picked up from the antique store, stored, and delivered it to her apt in downtown Brooklyn. It ended up being $1,000 to recover a couch (with new foam for the cushions). She loves it. I thought that was pretty good.
Congratulations, MM, I look forward to reading your column.
