    • I usually don’t like Brooks but his column today was thought provoking and uncomfortable. He is right in many respects- there comes a point where care, not cure is the only option and yet we refuse to see it. The medical profession has its own reasons for pushing more and more medical procedures- money being a main one. But I think a lot of blame for rising health care costs also has to do with our health care system- or lack of a coherent one. Until we figure out how to have health care for everyone, those who can’t afford it will cost us hugely, and the medical profession will keep squeezing those who can. Everyone suffers. But that’s capitalism for ya.
