  1. Those were local elections dave. The President was still elected by a majority in the national election. And the tide may be changing back- not only has Obama’s fundraising far outstripped any of the Republicans, but some of the local elections are now turning back to Democrats.

  2. I think you oversimplify and you certainly don’t understand the President. He is nothing if not pragmatic. His thing has always been to make government work, not get bogged down in partisan fighting. The fact that he hasn’t been able to accomplish that says more about the evils of partisanship than his experience in the private sector. And don’t say it is an anathema to the majority of Americans. A majority of Americans voted him into office, in part because we wanted a government that could set aside partisanship. This is the majority that you and other Republicans have chosen to ignore since the election.
