  1. benson is right- it isn’t all black and white. In fact if you want to see why the red states sem to be doing better, read the Tax Foundation report:

“The Tax Foundation has released a fascinating report showing which states benefit from federal tax and spending policies, and which states foot the bill.

US 50 States MapThe report shows that of the 32 states (and the District of Columbia) that are “winners” — receiving more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes — 76% are Red States that voted for George Bush in 2000. Indeed, 17 of the 20 (85%) states receiving the most federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Red States. ”

Seems like the red states are bleeding the blue states dry.

  2. I don’t disagree, basically. But I do disagree that the blame for it lies with Obama. We’ve been like this for a long time- If “shovel ready” was a joke, it couldn’t be lamed on Obama but on us. He gave us the opportunity and for one reason or another, we weren’t ready.

  3. I haven’t been to the tenement Museum yet but used to take my niece and nephew to the Transit Museum, which was great and I lived across the street from it. I had to do a presentation to the Construction Industry for my old organization and I used the Empire State building as the motif. I was awestruck by the construction workers- their skills, their quality of work, their amazing daredevil attitude. And to think it took a year for the little gut rehab in the limestone next door to me. What does that say?
