The Laffer curve, which of course generally states that reduction of tax rates increases government revenue, is ridiculous and we all know it’s ridiculous. Yet somehow, it remains a shibboleth of the conservative right since the supply-side days of the early 80’s. (the idea being, i suppose, if rich people keep more money, they’ll make more jobs/products/services, thus increasing the GDP and thus revenues).

I recall what you said yesterday about your geographic disability and spending money on taxis: my daughter has an Android phone with GPS so she doesn’t have to call me all the time for directions. It works for the subway and walking and driving and it comes with the phone.
