  1. “To my ears, Jamacian English is the best sounding English, followed by a good Southern US accent. But it has to be a GOOD Southern accent. ”

And what’s wrong with a Brooklyn accent? Hmmphh!! When are you leaving us??

  2. Cool, I’m glad I asked. I tend to go back to my Philly accent when I’m with my parents as to not seem snobby. Ha, and if you could hear my Ghanaian English, it’s pretty embarrassing – but the people in my village couldn’t understand me unless I spoke that way since they didn’t speak much English and told me to stop speaking in “slang” when I didn’t speak with the accent they used.

  3. oh yeah, ditto–I’ve heard about that place in sunnyside. I’ll take her over there soon. yours is the gpoint key foods? will check that out too. thanks!

jb, just looked up deppaneur… looks like it would give rob a heart attack. I’ll give it a shot.

  4. Is that something to be proud of, or you’re just stating a fact? I mean, I’m embarrassed that I’ve intentionally gotten rid of most of my Philly accent.

I like the sound of well-click English. I am a product of my colonial upbringing. I grew up around people who spoke the queen’s English with a little lilt. When I was in France with my mom everyone thought we were English.

I speak several forms of English, the Jamacian venacular, the queen’s English and several variations of American English.
