  1. Netanyahu is a very shaky prospect of his own. His government is cobbled together of factions- mostly right wing- that he cobbled together by promising them things he never should have.As for our allies- Considering the less than full esteem many of them hold Israel for its actions, I hardly think they would pick Netanyahu over Obama. You’re being completely unrealistic.

  2. slopefarm,
It’s not for me to interpret the subtlety and nuance in Obama’s stand with Israel,
It’s for our allies to decide if they think this President is someone they can trust with their future.
If Netanyahu is any indicator, it seems to be a shaky prospect with this administration.

  3. legion- as slopey says, bibi is grandstanding. As for Obama being advised by Neville Chamberlain- it seems, like bibi and his right wing friends, you believe in ignoring not only exactly what Obama said, but the fact that he said nothing different than what has been part of the attempt to bring peace to the Middle east since Jimmy Carter. there were no new policy statements.

What he did do, and I wish more people would have been as blunt and honest, is tell Israel something it doesn’t want to hear, that the present situation is untenable and they are as much a part of the problem as the Palestinians.

  4. Legion your 3:52 reminds me of a line in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy – something about how a character who was visiting Earth and trying to fit in “had skimped a bit on his preparatory research, so he chose the name Ford Prefect as being nicely inconspicuous.”

I would strongly suggest that you avoid saying things like “men resent being told what to do by their buddy downstairs”. It’s like choosing Ford Prefect as your Earth name.
