  1. I think that people blame politicians for too much. If folks are not happy with the way things are, look into the matter. Read up. Follow how politicians vote. Go to town hall meetings. Ask them questions. Make an informed decision.

  2. Dontella, the wood trim in the living rm is white hence the red works – ie white trim makes ton of colors work. the dining rm now is indeed the dreaded white walls with tons of dark wood trim. for the last 2 days, plum has been circling in my head but still didnt feel right

  3. I think the names and parties in this huntsman situation aren’t really that relevant.

the way I see it the administration in office saw a credible future opponent on the horizon. they made a smart strategic decision to offer a juicy post for which he seemed well qualified that also might keep him out of the next election cycle. politics and megalomania and opportunism being what they are, the administration believes that holding the office through the next election is in the nation’s best interest and a little maneuvering serves that interest. future opponent takes the job, likely thinking he’ll wait to run until the cycle after next. he carries out the job earnestly for a while, but realizes his party’s field of presidential hopefuls is a shambles. politics and megalomania and opportunism being what they are, he thinks abandoning the post and giving his party a chance at the white house will serve the nation best.

  4. “Seriously speaking: this talk of “for the good of the country” is alot of hooey. I WANT a system where there are competing ideas out there. I WANT a system where the aim is to win an election. ”

Yes because we see how well partisanship works and the quality of politician it produces. There is nothing wrong with competing ideas or parties, but when all we seem to do is fight and not produce constructive ideas and actions, where’s the sense? Instead of saving the savagery for campaign season. we’re now spending entire election cycles acting like it’s a 24/7 campaign season. It sucks and makes for a less effective government.

  5. Partisian is good. Slug it out. And that is for the good of the country. I completely agree. However, I am not sure what to think about an political appointee who accepts a position from a President of the opposing party to do a job (fine), pleases the President (fine) and then quits before the term is out to take on the President. I agree with Slopie on this.

  6. Kens, as you know, I avoid talking on the phone assiduously. I don’t mind texting or IMing first. But if we have a lot in common from our profiles, and there is an attraction, and we’ve had a nice email exchange, I prefer to meet and talk over a cup of coffee or a drink.
