It’s last-in, first-out (layoffs by seniority). A proposal to change that in the legislature went nowhere this year, and it’s this year that the layoffs are pending.
Christie Says ‘Jersey Shore’ Cast Should Get Out of New Jersey
May 6 (Bloomberg) — Governor Chris Christie has a message for the nine-member cast of MTV’s “Jersey Shore†television reality show: Get out of New Jersey.
“They parachute these people onto the Jersey Shore and try to make America think these are Jersey people, and they’re not.
They’re New Yorkers,†Christie said today during a four-hour appearance on CBS Corp.’s WFAN, a sports-talk radio station in New York.
“They ought to take them out to Montauk, all the way out on the point, and leave them there. And don’t drop bread crumbs, so they can’t find their way back.â€
Christie called cast member Vinny Guadagnino “ridiculous and a moron.â€
He also singled out Nicole “Snooki†Polizzi, Michael “The Situation†Sorrentino and Jenni “JWoww†Farley, saying they should “go back to New York.â€
The governor said he asked New York Governor Andrew Cuomo yesterday to “take them back.â€
“My brother in law is I think only 3-4 years from retiring and he’s thinking people like him will be the first to be let go. ”
Seriously? I wouldn’t think that would be the case, not with that kind of seniority. Wouldn’t it open them up to all sorts of age discrimination lawsuits? I could see offering early retirement, that might get a few takers. I imagine it would be the youngers that would be let go first.
My brother in law is I think only 3-4 years from retiring and he’s thinking people like him will be the first to be let go. It would be a shame- he’s a great teacher.
Ha, thanks Dave, that’s what was meant.
Wow- I agree with Christie except on one thing- we don’t want them. Maybe we can send them to Canada? 🙂

For the most part, the law on getting rid of teachers is still first in, first out.
Wendy has only been teaching a year, but she is special ed and willing to teach in any school, so that may help.
Between this and the question of our tenants in Los Angeles renewing their lease, our finances could be getting more stressful.
