“Legion, I guess everyone has to think through his/her ideas about justice, about war, about “just” war (if you think there is one…I do) about military action in this context, about protection vs justice and/or vengence. I think about this in terms of capital punishment too. I remember John Paul II saying something once in the context of capital punishment (and it extends to the concept of just war). The first goal in terms of capital punishment or war is protection of the innocent. We can never claim to be all wise about justice. But we can do our best to protect ourselves and other innocent people. And that is noble and necessary”
I wonder if John Paul I gets a lot of sort of ‘overspray’ prayer from sloppy devotees. I bet he’d be PISSED if he was the one granting the miracle and JP2 got all the credit/sainthood.
bfarwell,
Photographs, clothing, DNA, personal writings, audio.
It all says different things to different people.
At some point, individuals say to themselves;
“yes, this seems likely beyond a reasonable doubt.”
I don’t think it’s ever naive to overstate the simple needs of the masses or underestimate the ability of media to influence the people.
That’s what psy-ops are all about no?
Well, dibs, the miracle part has to do with a miracle which is thought by the church to have occurred as a result of prayers to John Paul II for his intervention. [oh please nobody start on this, please, I beg you]

but will this cause any changes as to how we fight the “war on terror” ?
seems much more effective to use kick ass special ops guys and focus on intelligence than have troops on the ground.
I’ve been saying this for years.
Absolutely, intelligence is primary with precision deployment.
bfarwell, are you old enough to remember the moon landing????

“”There isn’t much more evidence than that in support of the moon landing.””

Though my inner (outer) geek would like to point out that NASA used mostly Hasselblads. Which are pretty great.
