  1. “By cobblehiller on April 28, 2011 4:21 PM

Don’t be a pig, legion. Go ahead. Take your f*cking vacation to some expensive place and eat f*cking fois gras all week. Some of us have suffered from the crap dished out by “The Almighty F*cking Greed Driven Wall Street B*st*rds”. Losing my job SERIOUSLY f*cked with my life, and that of A LOT of others.

So enjoy your vacation in Cartegena or wherever the f*ck you’ll be lolling about on your ass this summer.”

    Don’t hate the player cobble,
    hate the game. :o(

  2. I don’t think Legion is actually the biggest of what you all might call “capitalist pigs” among us here. I also don’t think he actually said anything about going on any pricey foreign vacations. he did use an analogy in one of the rent/own comments but that’s all it was.

  3. “We are the closest to socialism that we’ve ever been and it’s very dangerous.”

I think that the country was closer to socialism from 1966 to 1976 or so.
Higher levels of regulation in numerous industries, price controls for numerous items, and much higher tax rates.

  4. “That’s what worked for Obama. We are the closest to socialism that we’ve ever been and it’s very dangerous.”

Now that’s just hyperbole. We were closer before welfare reform back in 1996 when many forms of public assistance were still a property right. We were closer before extensive deregulation of various aspects of the financial markets which have only partly been reversed. We were closer before 20 years of conservative Supreme Court jurisprudence altered the standards in areas such as regulatory takings and antitrust. We were closer before airline deregulation in the late 70s. We were closer before Reagan busted PATCO. We were closer when top marginal income tax rates were far higher decades ago. And even with all that, we weren’t close. We weren’t as close as any of the mixed economies of western Europe, then or now. And it is hard to believe that if we were moving as closely and dangerously to socialism as you say that the Dow would be up as much as it is since Obama took office.

  5. “What gave you the impression I work FOR them?”

“I think it was you saying that the other side ‘had never given you a job.’ Hence the assumption that you had been given a job by the capitalist/corrupt/batshit folks.”

Been there done that. Now I create my own opportunities.
Call me Mr. Man, just don’t call me Shirley.

  6. “uuhh, sounds like somebody’s rationalizing their “staycation” this year. ;o(”

Heh. If your point is that I don’t like capitalism because I’m not rich, you’re missing the entire argument. As hard as it may be to understand, I’m not rich on purpose.

(well, okay, I actually do think I am rich. But you would not.)
