Rob- be on the alert- if the kid is looking uncared for, and the dog is starving, there may be problems at home. But you said he seems very friendly- abused kids don’t normally act outgoing. Could be the family is having financial problems.
actually, he doesnt either. but lots of kids are skinny at that age. he does seem a tad rough around the edges and kinda hard scabble tho.. if i see him again ill ask if he’s noticed his dog getting skinnier.
maybe rob. The dog could be ill- I know when cats lose weight like that, they are ill. Could be worms, or cancer or anything and the family may not realize how thin he has become because they see the dog everyday. Just ask him if he’s noticed how thin his dog has gotten and to talk to his parents about getting the dog checked out.
i need some advice… im a little concerned about a dog in the neighborhood (a pitbull actually), maybe some of you who live in park slope have seen it? a boy of about 10 is always walking him around, the boy is very friendly and always chatting with random people on the street… president between 4th and 5th avenue is where i see him and his dog most of the time. anyway, this dog is getting more and more emaciated looking, im talking like straight outta a sarah mclachlan commercial here and when i saw the dog today i always was going to say something but i felt akward cuz the kid is like 10. i didnt know whether to say you need to feed your dog more or offer to buy him a big bag of dog food cuz i was headed to the supermarket anyway. i thought both of those options would be weird. months ago this dog was def. a normal weight now it’s all skin and bones and ribs jutting out. it’s also not neutered (tho that isnt much of an issue as i think people should have that option of they want, but whatever).. should i have said something to him?

Yeah, everyone acts like Adrienne’s is good, but it’s really not.

Yes, rob, I would say something to him. Maybe start w/, “Gee, your dog has lost a lot of weight, hasn’t he?” & see what the kid says.
also this isnt wasting away like old old dogs who are dying show, this dog cant be more than 2 years old or so.
