How do you know, Lech? To me, sounds like you just don’t want to share your dough with the old lady on medicare. But maybe your point is it’s not going to make it to her anyway, so you might as well just let people keep what’s theirs and look out for their own? ”
JB;
Question: how long do you think this line of scare tactics (They are throwing grandma under the bus!!!!) and holier-than-though moral posturing will work, in place of a real, adult discussion of policy? Medicare costs are growing exponentially, and consuming an ever-growing portion of the federal budget. Is your point that this topic is untouchable, because it’s grandma?
“Daytrading produces absolutely nothing either. You think that’s wrong too???â€
Nothing wrong with it, but people who do it don’t get to say taxes on them shouldn’t be raised because they’re going to use that money to start new enterprises, etc.
The mental disease that Lech describes at 2.39 is the downfall of many an engineer I know. You don’t know how many conversations I’ve had with them where their basic rant is “We make REAL stuff, we should be worth more”.

I have to agree with the republicans that trying to differentiate how worthy or productive different sources of money is is pointless at best.
I believe that’s the Democrats line here if I’m not mistaken.
Money is money. As long as you’re making it legally, it’s yours to keep and you should be able to keep as much of it as is possible.
jessi, it doesn’t matter what people are going to do with their money to determine what their taxes should be.
If more people on welfare were made to do at least a modicum of work for it there’d be far fewer people on welfare.

“And this as opposed to making overpriced clothing for people to show off with???? What does that “produce” for society??????”
i never said my job is essential for the world to continue functioning.

That wasn’t his point, jessi. This was his point:
” Redistribution from those who produce the most to those who produce the least destroys production.”
And it is true.
