“I agree with most of this but to say a 28 yr old with a 2mm bonus is less poisonous? I think that’s pretty subjective.”
Less poisonous than a socialist system, which was his point????? Reflect on the socialist systems throughout history and where they are now. Then get back to us.
See my comment above on Chavez wanting 80 cents on the dollar of every barrel of oil above $70.
“If more people on welfare were made to do at least a modicum of work for it there’d be far fewer people on welfare.”
Recognizing that many people on welfare are not able to work for any number of reasons (physical, mental, etc.), I agree with this as to able-bodied individuals.
“Yes, partially. So are you saying that if you don’t create new jobs and you make within that range that you should pay a higher rate???
ROTFLMMFAOâ€
That was something I was toying around with – why is it so funny?
Let me use a simple analogy on the redistribution of wealth and whether or not people should benefit from that without actually “producing” or working:
Whould you pay a hustler who just laid there and did nothing? NO, of course not.
“You’ll drive yourself to madness if you try to draw lines between people who make money from producing worthy things and those who don’t. There will always be people who make a lot of money in ways you don’t think add value. Money doesn’t care how it’s made. Don’t bother fighting that. The 28 year old banker with a $2mm bonus is so much less poisonous than redistributive statism.”
I agree with most of this but to say a 28 yr old with a 2mm bonus is less poisonous? I think that’s pretty subjective. And by the way, being poor is not being intellectually bankrupt. (ref: Bernie Madoff for intellectually bankrupt).

well yeah, when a big reason for lower taxes is job creation. i don’t think anyone has given as a reason that “rich people will be sad”
“At the risk of diving into a fray I tend to assiduously avoid, benson, please, the Republicans invented holier-than-thou moral posturing.”
This is why I married you 🙂
“dont bring up or assign political labels into the debate cause both parties stink big time right now – ie this aint a dumb and dumber contest.”
I think that political labels are useful to a point, but lately they seem to have become more important than the ideas they stand for.
