It would be really sad to hear that you were defeated by a toilet, dona. we might have to rescind the judgeship. You’ve been warned 🙂

Duly noted, bxgrl. I will not allow this to happen. I will not be defeated by a toilet.

  2. Toilet innards are usually trivial to replace. I’ve done it several times before.

The only catch wold be if the tank was ancient and had some strange shape or hole spacing.

  3. dibs, I’m sure that nothing has ever broken in the 125 year history of your building.

Shit breaks. As a Democrat, new condo resident, and renter, I put up with the minor inconvenience and let others fix it.

  4. Lech, I think her personal innards are ok but I am very polite and never ask unprompted about these things.

It is the innards of the toilet I am talking about. You know, the ball, chain, etc. It is not a big deal to replace, supposedly.

  5. M4L, the innards haven’t been changed in years, but the chain broke. Her parents are visiting and father (thank you, tenant’s father) made a temporary fix with a clip, but the whole thing is rusty and a mess and needs to be replaced. When there was a problem with the other tenant’s, I attempted to replace the innards and I needed a wrench to get off the bolt, it was so tight. I managed to pinch one of my fingers into a bloody mess. I will try this again though and I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED.
