  1. I am going to start playing golf at Dyker Beach golf course. Does anyone know of a driving range in Brooklyn?

    The only one I know of is Chelsea piers. I used to go there but my new golf partner asked if I knew a place a place in Brooklyn.

  2. “It is an older system, and the tracks are narrower. The trains from the IRT cannot be used on the BMT/IND lines.”

    Being geeky here, but the tracks are the same width, and IRT trains could run on on BMT lines, with the caveat that the signal systems are different.
    All of work trains are IRT-sized, and some are former IRT passenger cars.

    BMT trains cannot fit on IRT tracks because they are too wide.
    They would hit the platform edges, along with tunnel supports/walls/equipment in many places.

  3. Donatella;

    Actually I had the same experience with my accountant (who was a friend of my brother). He once was good, but as he built up his business he started delegating more and more to his assistants, whose knowledge of the tax law was only marginally better than mine. Moreover, they were basically using canned software themselves.

    If your taxes are complicated, it’s worth an accountant. However, I wouldn’t put owning a 2 or 3 family home in that category.

  4. anyone got any patio projects planned?
    I want to get rid of 3 boxes of (7 sq ft each box) tile- quarry tile – terracotta color – 6″ x 6″
    and 8 pieces of slate or whatever it is — 2′ by 3′ about an inch thick.

  5. There is a difference in width and maximum train lengths between between the numbered (IRT) and lettered (BMT/IND) lines.

    However, those differences are not usually as noticeable as how recently the stations have been renovated, how clean they are, how frequently the trains run, and now new the cars are.

    I have seen a few cases where the MTA still makes use of IRT/BMT/IND in their documentation.
