my immediate reaction to that “bedroom” in the 90 sq ft apt: you can’t even have proper sex in that bed. doggy style? outta the question.”

sorry, but that’s where my mind went.

Sex????? You can’t even have a bad dream in that space.

  2. my first apartment on ludlow (right around the corner from you DH at the time) i had an apartment that i was subletting for over 4 years from a woman who used the front living room as hoarder space, i never went in there, there was no where to do anything, it was floor to ceiling wall to wall all her junk (she also had the apt next door and knocked thru the walls and connected them) and rented that one out (tho that was the full apartment). anyway, i basically just had the back bedroom which was at most 6 x 8 feet with the window on the airshaft. i slept on an inflatable raft, and still did when i had my rabbit and pitbull! wtf!? and i had the kitchen which was… i’d say, 9 x 10 feet at max. typical small clawfoot tub in the bath and a poo mist style toilet in a closet (now you know my hatred of all things poo mist and toilets IN the damn kitchen cuz i lived that way, for years!). kept my journals and stuff in the oven, my shoes in the mini fridge (putting cold shoes on in the summer was always a nice treat) and eh, lived that way for 4 1/2 years until new owners bought the building and she gave me a week to get my stuff together and get out of there and make it look like she’s been living in the apartment forever :-/ i was the one who had to paint the hot pink walls back to white, paint the floors, etc all the while being like OMG where is me and my dog going to go? wound up moving in with my on again off again boyfriend at the time (barf) in chelsea. but at least i was able to find a place that fast. sad, he had this nice little chinese man for a roommate and me and duke moved in and i was like, you gots to go…

nyc living is seriously fucked up. i count my blessings i live in a stable apartment right now with a normal great roommate who i adore in a neighborhood nicer than anything ive ever lived in in my ENTIRE life. i can put up with baby strollers, moonfaces, and ice cream shops that charge 15 dollars a scoop because i know how hard it really IS out there. yeah, i COULD live in a cheap place, but i couldnt live in a cheaper place on my own and i wouldnt want to live in a roommate share in a shitty neighborhood because you tend to get shitty roommates.

  3. If I lived in an apartment like that place I’d go freakin nuts – and go out all the time, pretty much blowing any extra money I saved by living in such a shithole apartment in the first place.

Was sort of a similar situation at my old place with the shitty roommate. Never wanting to be at home = 2 year bender.

  4. im loving this april rain right now, puts me in a good mood. smells good, the chilliness but warmth around the corner feeling feels good, love the sound of rain in the alleyway. i like the trees are blooming everywhere and im not a huge fan of trees.. got some good grocery shopping done this evening, laundry done for the week, vet/dentist/eye doctor all lined up (i never went to that shady free eye exam study…)

  5. LECH: i havent seen him in a few weeks. he is a sad sack. he starts saying spare change spare change then it turns into pare ange pare ange ange spa spare cha cha.
🙁 he’s almost fallen on me numerous times (i always sit on the corner seats that stick out in the aisle when i can)

  6. I could do that 90 square foot place, EASILY. when you live in small spaces like that you learn what your priorities in life are… of course my 40 gazillion video games would have to be sold, but somehow i have them all in my bedroom with no storage issues, along with everything else, and it’s far from cramped. i dont really own anything outside of my bedroom except a lamp and a few paintings.. it’s do-able. i just get the impression her place smells bad. it doesnt look well ventilated at all.
