  1. Nursing school is incredibly demanding if you want to advance in it as a career. It is very well paid if you’re well qualified but the job itself is also long, arduous hours if you’re in a hospital setting where the big bucks are.

  2. L & B Spumoni Gardens review from Village Voice:

“As in a scene from Grease, men drive up and down 86th Street, ogling the ponytailed girls who sit at outdoor tables on warm summer evenings. More like an amusement park than a restaurant…”

Seeing that alone makes it worth the trip.

  3. CGar, if you’re talking about NYC, I completely agree that MBA finance concentration >>>> Law Degree. On a national level, cant agree. NYC folks dont appreciate how well paid back office accounting and finance folks make in the area.

  4. I would definitely advise someone looking for a good stable career to go the RN route. I have a good friend who put in a number of years in hospital settings, and now has a decent job working for a pharmaceutical company.

  5. “Good business school + good opportunity + ambition + a bit of intelligence + greed = BIG $$$”

“Good law school + good grades + willingness to eat large piles of + a bit of intelligence + risk aversion = Enough $$”

m4l, I agree with Biff and jackal on business school vs. law school. I think business school gives you more career options, and certainly more lucrative ones. As jackal said, unless you’re in the top of your class, good law jobs, let alone high-paying ones, are hard to come by — very few law grads land jobs in the top firms, and those jobs tend to pay the money (though not if you calculate it on an hourly basis). Of those, few ever make partner. Most people with whom I went to law school or practiced have quit law entirely. That said, my law degree is useful for what I do now, but I would not have gone to law school if I had it to do all over again.

  6. Back when I was young (16) and stupid, I was accepted into a program at Hofstra where you shaved one year off law school and college.

Instead I went to FIT. I am sure I am poorer for the decision but, I did have a fabulous wardrobe.

  7. “That guy’s a wimp.”

    Stephen Hawking just called,
he said he’ll meet you outside after work and
that he’s going to crush you like a nutrino
then bend you into a mobius strip!

    BHS,
You know which degree is guaranteed to always pay?
    RN.
They are the largest group in medicine and have the most clout through their unions.
The degree is flexible and allows one to work everywhere from doctor’s offices to clinics to insurance companies and hospitals.
They get most of the benefits and a lot less of the risk in medicine.
No wonder *rob* is angry at them.
