Where exactly did I call THL a racist? As I explained above, in referencing the book by Jim Sleeper, what she did do was more along class lines.
I have seen you and many others immediately call PropJoe down when he makes a remark about Jewish folks and plays on certain stereotypes. Even his jokes about Hasidic women (which I won’t repeat here) are heaped upon. Same thing recently happened to wine lover when he sent out ONE post regarding hispanics.
So tell me why I am not allowed to call someone out when they were clearly playing on a stereotype, a person I have noticed did the same thing in the past? For the sake of comity, I didn’t say anything in the past – but I have my limits. For your information, she once described a fedders house as “Jersey Shore Guido”.
You know what my problem is here? THL commited a “safe sin” here on Brownstoner, as that Dyker Heights thread shows. Again, I wonder why only one person called out PropJoe on that thread.
As far as that incident with BRG, I stand by what I did. Again, I spoke up because no one else commented on what is perceived to be a “safe sin” here on Brownstoner: Publcily accusing a particular reverend (not a priest, btw) of the crime of fraud, without offering a shred of evidence.
The conclusion I draw from all of this is that there are verboten errors on Brownstoner, and there are those that can be just shrugged off.
