newsflash: it’s the planet Earth in a large Universe in a huuuuge galaxy. people are allowed to make fun of whomever they choose for whatever reasons they want. getting in a tizzy about won’t do any good. i dont have a favorite or least fav. ethnic group, basically cuz i just dont care, but i do believe people have the right to if they choose for whatever reason they want. people are always trying to curtail peoples freedoms on this planet it’s sickening! if you dont like what someone says, just skip it. jeez.

gemini….I think that’s exactly what benson is saying. I think the original reference made here today was fine because it was quoting what was said by a RE agent and wasn’t meant to be directed at anyone as THL’s thoughts.
I’ve been guilty of exactly what benson is talking about. Like he says above “The conclusion I draw from all of this is that there are verboten errors on Brownstoner, and there are those that can be just shrugged off.” There’s some grain of truth in that. We have, in the past, freely discussed catholics & Protestants in jest but when it comes to Jews, people are less comfortable doing that (although I’ve donme it with many Jewish friends).
Either way, we all need to realize when someone is being truly racist and when they are not (but may still be offensive to someone else). This is the fine line of any discussion where race, religion or national origin comes into play.
