I am being fecetious of course about folk music.
I enjoy alot of it in various settings but I can’t say I actually own a CD or an album of any traditional ethnic music.
I used to like the Chieftans a lot. I went to see them at Avery Hall, but hours of that really had a repetitive feeling to it. The friend who came with me said the same thing. I think those guys are pretty old now….I haven’t hear anything about them.
slopey- if the uilleann pipes are play sitting down, that’s the reason the pipe and drum don’t use them as they are marching bands. And perhaps the sound doesn’t carry. But a group of us were in a bar, after the closing ceremonies at the WTC, when some of the FDNY band came in. One of them played the pipes for us- it was so haunting and beautiful, even in that small space.
When we had the final dedication at the Wall we had the Pipe and Drum from FDNY, NYPA and PAPD all playing together. The sound was incredible against the roar of the ocean.
I can’t believe doing lunch today when this is week where I’ll be in town on a friday. and today I have the electrician – who I doubt is union since seems to be his own business.
Now he tells me that 1 line from coned from street doesn’t have neutral. So he called coned….so I guess they have to do something from street. Why can’t anything be simple.
I learned something new yesterday. Our (r/l) lungs are not exactly same. One has 3 of something and other has only 2.
Dave, is your Bloomberg free?
