  1. sounds good dibs,
In the winter, I move the grill close to my side door.
As long as it’s not too windy, I’ll crank it up and throw on a skirt steak that’s done in like 6 minutes. It’s fun grilling with icicles all around.

  2. I received some communications from colleagues who live in Ibaraki prefecture, which is just south of Fukushima. They are about 40 miles from the reactor.

They are overwhelmed with the breakdown of services. They have not had running water for 6 days. Electricity is being rationed via rolling blckouts. Food is scarce, as is gasoline. The roads and railroads are spotty.

I am speculating that the nuclear reactor situation is the focus of their leadership, such that these more mundane matters are being put on the back-burner.

My office is at a virtual stand-still. All of our factories are shut down, so we’ve got nothing to sell!

  3. Biffy – It’s worth walking past the White House – queue to get in is ridiculous. But the back of the WH is right across from the Wash. Monument. You can see the Lee Mansion across the bridge from the Linc. Mem. Air & Space is good – ground floor of science is terrif – clocks & gizmos.
I’m emailing you a key to getting around DC. I grew up there (to the extent that I grew up.)
