I get this catalog on a regular basis
it’s called Dirt Cheap
and it has all kinds of survivalist stuff for sale.
Potassium Iodide pills,
Gas Masks,
freeze dried food,
hell, even Geiger counters.
In a nuclear emergency the KI pills are a good idea.
I don’t feel confident that I have a really good idea of what is going on in Japan right now with the reactor. Any time I have actually been involved in anything newsworthy I’ve felt like the press has just gotten it totally wrong, missed the important stuff and sensationalized stuff that should be. Now there’s an apparently major event going on and I feel like I’m kind of in the dark no matter what the news says.
As strange as this may sound, I actually tend to trust what I read in the New York Times for situations like this. I definitely don’t trust the TV coverage (not that I watch it anyways) and I heavily discount the breaking news type Internet coverage, which plays to seekers of instant updates in the same way as TV news.
I like to keep my doors open during the evening hours.
I like to invite trouble.
