Japanese have unique ideas about consumption. There is something almost religious about being austere and frugal and they have a horror of waste, I guess because basic necessities are so hard to come by. Once I had a friend visiting at my place in Brooklyn Heights from Tokyo….she saw me draining rice and some fell out of the pot and I washed it down the drain.
I am not sure what time I got there, Dibs…It was 11 -ish, DH said it was a kind of gangsta performance, showing up that late. I myself felt like a human again, but was sorry that so many people went home at a respectable hour.
Yeah, Dave – Dona was sportin’ a rather gorgeous orange coat on Friday night. Not sure if you saw her.
Why thank you, JB…. I missed Dave that night. I got there late (recovering from my own nuclear meltdown Thursday – had to take a nap first) I heard that his karaoke performance was electrifying!!! 🙂
Yes, I guess you could call it terracotta. Or cinnamon.
Thanks. I like it a lot….

“It’s not proper to be consuming when something this terrible has happened to others in the countryâ€
Seems the Japanese themselves are taking the moral high ground :p
