I suspect b/c the landlords in Park Slope are asking for extremely high rents for their storefronts. I would bet that Park Slope historically have always had higher rents than Fort Greene etc.
Which stores have closed in the slope recently on 7th?
“JB, a wingman is suppose to be just “good enough” to NOT be disgusted by the girl and accentuate how much better is the LEAD Man (kens) is in comparison. Didnt you see that trailer piece for Hallpass Movie?â€
A man must have written that movie. A hot wingman makes your dude look better – shows he’s got cool friends. A wingman who’s beneath the target is a liability, you need to find a friend to hang with him and it’s gonna be hard to hook this dude up.
1. The unions agreed very early on to the wage cuts and pension/health contribution increases in the budget repair bill. How is it, exactly, that the collective bargaining piece in the bill was needed to close the current deficit, the ostensible purpose of the bill? Seems to me collective bargaining worked in this case to achieve the state’s legitimate objectives. They agreed to swallow 8% wage cuts, plus increased health and pension costs after already enduring several years with unpaid furlough days and no raises. Not to mention how much smaller the deficit would be this year and going forward if they state hadn’t enacted a package of tax cuts and benefits for corproations.
2. At least Obama campaigned on enacting universal health care. Whether you like the bill or not, he was following through on what he said he would do. To date, no one can find any Scott Walker campaign material in which he campaigned on largely ending collective bargaining. And the right to bargain collectively only up to cost of living increases is merely the right to bargain as to how much further you fall behind each year.
3. Apparently they passed the bill with no real announced lead time and without explaining or distributing anything showing how it was different than the original bill, and over objections that the State Attorney General said they were acting in violation of the state open meetings law.
4. I hear from local sources that the recall petition drives against 8 GOP senators are going better than expected. So this hasn’t quite ended, yet, just one round.
I had a friend who had such a bad cough he literally ripped the muscles in his chest and was rushed to the emergency room. I’m sure a delicate flower such as M4L needs to be extra careful 🙂
Michigan Bill Would Let Financial Managers Void Union Contracts
(Bloomberg) — The clash pitting unions against governments spread further across the Midwest after the Michigan Senate approved a bill empowering state-appointed emergency managers to overturn labor contracts in financially troubled cities and school districts.
The measure backed by Republican Governor Rick Snyder passed yesterday by a party-line 26-12 vote. The legislation is designed to avert local financial crises, the governor said.
Discussion Topic: Park Slope businesses crashing while Fort Greene businesses on the rise.
We were all discussing how there are A LOT of businesses closing in Park Slope! Northern Seventh Avenue in particular has seen a lot of closures recently.
WHAT is going on?
It seems like Myrtle and Fulton Avenues are bustling and businesses are desperate to get a storefront in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill while poor Park Slope has had a more than fair share of closings.

BKGreene, super easy answer. Slope – Over Supplied (& killing rent). ft Greene is more in balance and probably under the demand.

m4l, as I suspected, this “pulled muscle” is in the area of the “wing” (2:26)- too eager for wingman duties. 🙂
