So I’ve had a wracking cough for about two weeks now, and last night in the car home I had a coughing fit going through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel that was obviously making the driver nervous, and then I couldn’t go to sleep no matter how much Nyquil I guzzled cause I was hacking up so much, so I went to the emergency room. It took 4 1/2 hours for a 12 year old intern to spent 5 seconds looking at the xray to tell me I don’t have pneumonia. Turns out I’m fine, I just have a persistent shitty cough. Fuckin emergency room though, you know? I felt really sorry for a lot of the other people there though. There was a bicicle messenger there who had an infected tooth and just wanted pain management and obviously had no real means of getting it fixed by a proper dentist. That sucks. So what happened, say, 100 years ago? They would just rip the tooth out of a guy like that? I assume so.
