BSM,
I am sorry to hear about these incidents.
I have a few as well,
I recall one Christmas Eve 2AM, when the gates from my father’s store beneath my apartment in ENY were torn off thier hinges. My father and I went out to confront the criminals and protect all we had.
I recall my parent’s being held up at gunpoint on Sumner Avenue in broad daylight.
I recall several occasions waking up to burglars tearing the roof up outside my bedroom window to get to the electronics store or the laundromat.
I have many, many ugly stories to tell.
Every one of them true.
Sometimes we won, sometimes they did.
I choose not to dwell on injustice though and I know it comes in all colors.
I work to eliminate it where I can by doing my small part
and I will not allow an undercurrent of victimization to stunt my kid’s potential.
BSM, that shit is nuts, but sadly, not uncommon enough.
It is. I don’t want to belabor the issue, but I can’t tell you how many times I have intervined, when the police have tried to pick-up or stop kids I know in the neighborhood. Including one time when they where sitting on my stoop after helping me weed my yard.

“and they even broke my dresser!â€
Cops were in your place?
“whiskers on kittens is what’s gotten me in trouble.”
LOL! It’s why I have a second cat! Couldn’t resist that tiny little face and disproportionately long whiskers and huge feet 🙂
BSM, not even raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens???
I do love raindrops and roses and whiskers on kittens. I am going to have a Julie Andrews moment.

Whiskers on kittens…hard to resist 🙂
